Community Service
Rotaract gives you the opportunity to work in your local community alongside other people your age who share similar concerns.
Community service projects can be big or small, from a simple action such as brightening a stranger's day by giving out giving out flowers to nursing home residents on Mother's Day, through to funding medical research. The possibilities are endless, and what we do at any particular time depends upong the interests of our current members.
Here are some of the areas we have (and in many cases, still do) provided support in in recent years...
- The Environment: Tree planting; Participating in clean up days; Recycling (Cash for Cans, Ring Pulls, Corks)
- Medical / Health: Donating blood; Purchasing equipment for hospitals and medical centres; Funding medical research; Funding Parkinson's information leaflets for doctors; funding the Perth Clown Doctors; Bluey Day
- Less Fortunate: Donating clothes to the Ngala Bargain Bazaar; Purchased a digital video camera for the Paraplegic Quadriplegic Association; Sponsored a Guide Dog; Sponsor disabled youths to attend "Handicamp".
- Children & Youth: Laid paving for the "Fun Factory" playground at the Karawara Community Project; Playing Santa Claus; Provided volunteers at the "Imagine Your Australia" National Conference of Youth.
